Pumpkins, Gourds & Squashes - seed kit

The family of pumpkins and squashes originates from Central-, and South America. They are amongst the oldest, cultivated agricultural plants and over the centuries a multitude of varieties emerged. However, in Central Europe pumpkins only went through a renaissance a few decades ago, regaining popularity.

For this seed kit we specially selected 5 varieties, which not only tastes delicious but also are very decorative, including:

• the creamy and nut-flavoured Butternut squash 'Ponca' (Cucurbita moschata)
Open-pollinated heirloom butternut squash variety with firm orange flesh and the typically mild nutty flavor.
• the lovely Hokkaido squash 'Red Kuri' organic (Cucurbita maxima)
’Red Kuri’ is one of the most suitable pumpkin/ squash varieties to prepare a delicious pumpkin soup. Despite their firm skin, these pumpkins need not be peeled and have a lovely nutty aroma.
• the blue-skinned, Italian winter squash 'Marina di Chioggia' (Cucurbita maxima)
Italian pumpkin variety with bluish, wrinkly skin and golden yellow, aromatic flesh.
• the attractive looking 'Buttercup / Turk’s Turban/ French Turban'- pumpkin/squash (Cucurbita maxima)
Pumpkin variety with irregularly shaped, decorative fruits and sweet-mild taste.
• and the aromatic 'Muscade de Provence/ Moscata di Provenza’-pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata)
