The main food was therefore the meat of wild animals and fish as well as vegetables, herbs, nuts, berries and honey. Milk and milk products as well as the culture of cereals had not yet been developed.
This seed kit contains 7 plants our ancestors would have enjoyed during the Stone Age:
- Burdock, Gobo (Arctium lappa var. sativa)
A very old root vegetable. Burdock in its cultivated form with tender, non-woody roots. - Wild Asparagus (Asparagus acutifolius)
Uncomplicated and so delicious! Green ancestor of today's cultivated asparagus, which has been traded as a gourmet vegetable since ancient times. - Wild Celery (Apium graveolens)
Very spicy celery, which can be used similar to parsley. - Wild Wall Rocket (Diplotaxis muralis)
'Rucola selvatica' is a fast spreading and very aromatic Italian rucola salad, which can be harvested continuously up until the time when it starts to flower. - Winter Cress (Barbarea vulgaris)
This plant belonging to the mustard family is high in vitamin c and adds a strong aromatic flavour to your winter salad dishes. - Wild Strawberry (Fragaria vesca)
These strawberries are truly the best, with small 'berries' but soooo flavoursome, yummy! - Spaghetti Squash (Cucurbita pepo)
The spaghetti squash has a fibrous flesh which can be used like spaghetti after cooking.
