The saw palmetto grows in the South East of the USA and is also used for the treatment of prostate afflictions over here. It grows 1 to 3 metres high and is very resistant. It's said to tolerate droughts and floods well. Often kept in pots over here. It owes its name to its denticulate leaf stalks, which look like a saw. From the juice of the sabal, also, an intoxicating palmwine is prepared.
