In general, the best time to sow tomato seeds is 6-8 weeks before the last expected night frosts in spring. As tomatoes originate in the tropical regions of South America and need relatively high temperatures to germinate, they are grown in greenhouses or indoors in almost all climates until they have developed enough to be transplanted into the garden. Optimum germination temperature: +24-28°C, plenty of light, keep soil moist at all times. We therefore recommend the use of a mini-greenhouse for sowing.
