It grows up to ten metres in height and is perfectly suitable for a climbing greening of walls, especially because it shows its red foliage in autumn. Despite the visual similarity, it shouldn't be mistaken for woodbine (Parthenocissus), which is enormously common as a neophyte in Germany.
The female plants of the grapevine bear edible, small, blue grapes with a slightly sour but very pleasant taste. A beautiful plant for moist, half-shady locations.
Seeds, content: Approx. 20 Wild grape seeds

Sowing & cultivation
- Cultivating wild grapes from seed
As the grape seeds need cold to germinate, it's best to sow them outdoors at a protected place in early spring, when it's still cold (e.g. recess a clay pot in the soil). Most often, they already germinate in the same spring or the next year. Cold stratification in the fridge is also possible. Fresh, nutrient-rich soil is ideal.
