Mullein is an impressive, biennial plant that only forms the ground-covering leaf rosette in the first year. In the second year, the beautiful yellow inflorescences that shoot up to two meters are formed. In the following, the plant sows itself in early autumn through its innumerable small seeds - like this, it establishes itself permanently in suitable locations. The blossoms of mullein contain many mucilages and saponins and are, therefore, a good mucolytic for colds. They aren't only cough-loosening but also delicious. According to Aristotle, the seeds of mullein, however, are said to daze fish and, therefore, facilitate fishing when they are scattered into the water.
