The Carthusian pink is a perennial herbaceous plant which is ideal for alpine gardens and rockeries. It has gained its common name because it was not only a popular nectar plant and day-flower for the peasant garden, but also a monastery garden plant, which was cultivated by the carthusian monks. It grows with rather low wuth a maximum of 40cm and flowers in pinkish-red from June to September. The flowers and exude a pleasant, very characteristic carnation fragrance.
