Calea zacatechichi (calea ternifolia) is a shrub occurring in the whole of Central America, especially in the altitudes of Mexico. From the indigenous tribes, a ritual tea is prepared from the leaves, which are slightly reminiscent of stinging nettle. Afterwards, they lay down and it's said that in the following dreams, you'll receive hints for the healing of your current sufferings.

Furthermore, the plant is said to help with bringing about lucid dreams. These are dreams, in which the dreamer is aware of the fact that he's dreaming.

Clean the small black seeds and slightly sprinkle them on the substrate, do not cover with earth, Calea seeds need light to germinate. A cold treatment (so-called stratification) can have a germination-promoting effect (store in the refrigerator for 4-6 weeks with some slightly moistened sand, eg. in a freezing bag). A short pre-soaking in hydrogen peroxide solution can also have a beneficial effect on germination.

Keep seedlings and young plants moist by spraying them with water. Ideal location: full sun.
