The “Pimenta da Neyde“ is said to have originated from a spontaneous crossing of a Capsicum Chinense and a Capsicum annum in the garden of the Brazilian gardener Neyde Hidalgo. That’s why the variety bears her name. The whole chili plant is violet-coloured and looks very decorative. The chilies already have a black-violet colouring before they are ripe and keep it in the full ripeness. They are very aromatic and have the typical fruitiness of a habanero. They are well-suitable for the production of black chili powder.
