Indian Mint is a plant with beautiful, crimson to pink blossoms that exude a pleasant, rather bitter citrus scent. The plant originates from North America and, there, is known as a fragrant and medicinal plant and a kitchen herb.

Indian Mint can be used versatilely: The leaves also have a lemony taste and can be used raw as well as boiled. They are delicious as an aromatic herb for salads and meat dishes, as tea, syrup, or also for flavouring lemonades.

The tea is said to have healing powers. It's said to have an anticonvulsant effect on the digestive tract and the bronchial tubes. Indian Mint is highly appreciated by bees and butterflies due to its nectar. In the USA, the essential oil is, however, used as a repellent against stinging insects.

Sowing: Pre-soak seeds in warm water for a few hours if necessary. Then only sprinkle on the substrate and press lightly. Needs warmth to germinate. Relocation and transplanting are not well tolerated by the young plant. Can move outdoors after the last frosts.

wie jedes Jahr wunderschön geblüht
Die Zitronen Monarde ist einfach toll und die Blätter sind super lecker. Letztes Jahr hatte ich sie auch schon und auch im nächsten Jahr möchte ich sie nicht missen. Das Saatgut hat sehr gut gekeimt.
