Water spinach is a tropical vegetable plant from the family of morning glories. This is particularly noticeable in the beautiful white-violet flowers, which resemble those of sweet potatoes and other morning glories. The plants like to grow in shallow water, but can also be grown well in pots. In Southeast Asia dishes with water spinach are often called Kangkung or Kangkong, in Cambodia it is often used to prepare soups.
