Chocolate Vine, better known as five-leaf akebia or fiveleaf, is a climbing plant that can only be found in gardens anymore. It owes its name to the scent of its opened blossoms which slightly smell of vanilla or chocolate.

Due to its fast growth, it's used for facade greenery. However, it also plays a part as a medicinal plant. It was acknowledged as a medicinal plant by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Japan and cultivated because of its anti-inflammatory characteristics.
The fruits of the akebia are edible but it only bears fruits in very warm areas and in very hot summers. These are considered a delicacy in Asia.
