Corn poppy is an old arable weed that has been known to grows in cornfields since the early days of agriculture. Today the presence of these wild flowers has declined sharply due to frequent use of herbicides. While corn poppy is not recognized as a medicinal plant by orthodox medicine, alternative treatments recommend corn poppy petal infusions as a drug against coughs and sore throats and as a sedative for insomnia.
