The tobacco plant was already used ritually in America in pre-Columbian times. The plant spirit of tobacco was considered a powerful ally and tobacco smoke was supposed to help the shaman gain access to the spiritual world. Smoking was usually done from pipes or in the form of a cigar.
Even older is probably the snuffing or chewing of crushed tobacco leaves. In the 16th century, seafarers brought tobacco back to Europe, from where smoking quickly spread throughout the world. Smoking from pipes has been documented by archaeological finds in South America for over 2000 years.

Virginia tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)
Virginia tobacco has a high sugar content and is often used for light coloured tobacco blends.
Burley tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)
Burley tobacco is a popular cigar tobacco variety, which is also often used for cigarette tobacco blends.
Kentucky tobacco (Nicotiana rustica)
Kentucky tobacco is an impressive-, and incredibly robust tobacco plant variety with high yield. It is the ideal tobacco species for first time tobacco growers.

The seeds of each variety are packaged in a separate sachet with a minimum of 500 seeds.
