Spearmint or Greenmint (Mentha Spicata Syn. Viridis) is the representative of the type with the probably most characteristic flavour which matches the typical spearmint taste. Whoever grinds the leaves between the fingers or tastes them for the first time, surely feels reminded of chewing gum. Indeed, the slightly hot taste is a basic element of numerous hygiene products. In the Indian and North African kitchen, it's a very important seasoning and also as a tea herb, the greenmint is more significant there than the peppermint here.
