It's hardly likely that there's a medicinal plant with such versatile indications as Milfoil Yarrow: Germ-inhibiting, anti-inflammatory, relaxing, anti-convulsant, and much more. It belongs to the old, traditional medicinal herbs that are known since antiquity. Mainly the aerial parts of the plants are used as tea, tincture, compress, or also as a bath additive. It's harvested during the long heyday.

The blossoms and the fresh leaf tips in spring are also used in the kitchen: With the typical bitter taste, they flavour wild herb salads and quark with herbs. What's also popular is a sirup made out of milfoil yarrow blossoms.

The tea made out of milfoil yarrow is also said to mitigate menstrual molimen like belly aches. Most often, therefore, it's combined with lady's mantle.

Milfoil yarrow is a herbaceous, perennial plant. It prefers sunny and dry locations with permeable soil. The root system forms very long roots and requires lots of space. The plant, overall, tends to sprawl.

Yarrow is a hardy perennial and likes lots of sun. Sow seeds in spring in a cold frame or in indoor pre-culture. These seeds germinate at around 20° C. Cover the seeds with a layer of soil approximately 1-2 times the thickness of the seed. In the first few weeks avoid waterlogging. Plant out the vigorous seedlings and remember that the lavishly growing plants need a distance of about 30cm.

sehr gute Keimfähigkeit
Ich habe die Schafgarbe bisher nur unter LED-Leuchten angezüchtet. Die Samen sind hervorragend gekeimt. 6 Tage bis zur ersten Keimung, 22 bis zum Pikieren. Bald werden sie ausgepflanzt in der Hoffnung, dass sie sich gut im Garten etablieren.
