The kohlrabi variety 'Superschmelz' belongs to the giant kohlrabis. Its tubers have an expected weight of 3-5 kg per piece at harvest. Surprisingly, even at this size, this variety remains delicately melting and only very rarely becomes woody.

Preculture from March under glass / foil. From the end of April sow directly into in the garden. Sowing depth of about 1 cm. Keep evenly moist. The initial temperatures during the growth phase should not fall below + 12 °C for a longer time, the plant might form no tuber.
Pinch out the emerging plants to a distance of approximately 40cm, don't plant them deeper than before - this might cause growth inhibitions.
Likes rich soil and plenty of water.

Ich kenne die Sorte Butterschmelz, wir bauen sie schon viele Jahre bei uns auf dem Acker an. Dieses Jahr war echt ein wildes Jahr. Ich kann darum nicht genau sagen ob es am Saatgut oder an der Anzucht lag, aber die Pflänzchen stellten das Wachstum zügig ein. Nach dem sie später ausreichend ans draußen leben gewohnt waren und auf dem Acker gepflanzt waren kamen schnell die Raupen und Co. Die Pflanzen haben sich davon jedoch ganz gut erholt, sind jedoch nicht auf die gewünschte Größe gewachsen. Nächste Jahr werde ich sie testweise mal später aussähen und auch ein Kulturschutznetz drüber werfen, eventuell wird das helfen.
