Maca is a Peruvian cress variety (Lepidium) the root of which is used as a medicinal plant similar to ginseng. In the Andes, Maca has a millennia-old tradition as a medicinal plant and food. Lately, the food industry and the superfood movement have also discovered maca as it contains much vitamin B, C, and E as well as trace elements. However, the root is only rarely marketed as a whole but mostly ground in powder form. Taken for several weeks, maca is said to operate as an aphrodisiac and enhance potency as well as lust.
