Oregano fits Italian tomato dishes, lamb, and pizza. In Mexican cuisine, oregano is often used together with cumin, coriander, chili, and garlic. In the kitchen, the aromatic leaves, which can be harvested all year round, are used.

In Europa, oregano also has an old tradition as a medicinal plant against digestive problems, chronic bronchitis, and skin problems.

Its blossoms are especially rich in sweet nectar. As a result, oregano is an exquisite bee and butterfly plant.

Oregano grows well in sunny and warm locations. Pre-culture takes place from mid-March indoors. Outdoor planting is only possible from mid-May. During sowing, the seeds need to be pressed onto the soil gently but not covered with soil as they are so-called light germinators. The seedlings can be planted outdoors from mid-May. Oregano is also well suited for growing in pots.
