Its robust nature, long flowering period and natural growth habit make it a valued plant for cottage gardens, natural-style beds and low-maintenance garden areas.

Black-eyed Susan prefers sunny to partially shaded locations and humus-rich, well-drained soils. It grows upright, forms sturdy stems and, once established, copes well with periods of drought. Waterlogging should be avoided.

Depending on the variety, the flowers appear in shades ranging from yellow to golden tones, sometimes with a greenish or brown centre. With heights between around 40 and 100 cm, black-eyed Susan is suitable both for group plantings in beds and as a structural background plant. Many varieties are also well suited as cut flowers.

Black-eyed Susan is easy to grow from seed and often maintains itself through self-seeding. Under favourable conditions, new plants appear the following year without any additional effort.

This plant is ideal for anyone looking for long-lasting summer blooms with strong colour impact and low maintenance requirements.
