Jiaogulan is a medicinal and vegetable plant from China. It is also called Xiancao, "herb of immortality", which hints at its rejuvenating and revitalizing effect. The herb jiaogulan contains very similar ingredients like the ginseng root but is
much easier to cultivate. The leaves of the hardy plant can be used versatilely as a salad, tea or in "green smoothies".

Jiaogulan is a heat-loving climber for the balcony, terrace, greenhouse, or outdoors (conditionally hardy). It can also be grown indoors as a pot plant. The seeds germinate well at warm temperatures of about 22 °C.
