The common cowslip is a very decorative flowering meadow flower. Since time immemorial it has been used as a medicinal herb for colds and gout. The cowslip primrose, as it is also called, is also one of the magical herbs. In popular belief, it is
used to gain protection and fertility and is part of many love spells. This may certainly be because that it blooms very early in the year, around April or May. Around May 01, there are many folk customs that revolve around the theme of fertility.

The young leaves can be used in salads. The flowers are edible and therefore a very nice decoration for dishes. With the flowers you can also naturally colour your easter eggs. Simply cook some cowslip flowers together with your eggs in hot water. Wild cowslips are threatened with extinction.
