The Betony is a very history-charged, indigenous wild shrub with many beautiful pink to purple and seldomly also white blossoms that are plentifully visited by insects (especially bumblebees love these blossoms).

The Common Hedgenettle belongs to the forgotten medicinal plants and had been a very frequently used and mentioned plant for all kinds of afflictions from antiquity to the Middle Ages. It was said to be a panacea and was delivered especially when people didn't know what the patient had.
The common hedgenettle used to be grown in monastery and apothecary gardens and around churches.
Likes to sow itself and quickly forms ground-covering carpets. Also suitable as a border planting for herbaceous borders.
As a dyeing plant, the common hedgenettle makes a beautiful, dark yellow.
