Dye Plant Seeds

Early on, people used herbal colours from nature for dyeing and colouring clothes, skin, hair and dwellings. Some plants already start to rub off when touched, so it is not surprising at all that people came up with the idea of using plants, herbal powders, extracts and concentrates for dyeing.
Well known plants for dyeing fabrics are woad plant, madder and indigo. But also in a common vegetable garden, there are cabbage, beetroot and red orache which are also utilized for colouring food and drinks. Many fruit teas get their red colour through red mallow, for example.
